I Am Known and Loved

I Am Known and Loved

I absolutely love the Christmas story!πŸ’— It is one of the most beautiful stories in the bible. Young Mary being chosen to carry the reason for the season (Jesus) in her womb. What an honor! Without Jesus, there would be no true Christmas as we know it. I wonder, would Christmas even exist at all?

One of my favorite parts of the first Christmas story is when the angel Gabriel came to speak to Mary to tell her she had been chosen.
Luke 1:30 tells us that Gabriel said, “Do not be afraid, Mary.” He could have just said, “Don’t be afraid.” But instead he called her by name. I don’t know about anyone else, but this fact makes it so much more personal. How did Gabriel know her name? Because God knew her name.

In Exodus 33:17, the Lord said to Moses, ‘ I will do this very thing you have asked, for you have found favor in My sight and I know you by name.” (HCSB cersion) Wow! He knew Moses by name and this scripture isn’t exclusive just for Moses. He knows our name as well.

Maybe you’re not feeling the Christmas Spirit. I encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus. He knows you by name.
Even when the walls are rapidly closing in, keep your eyes on Jesus. He knows you by name.
When you don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel, keep your eyes focused on Jesus. He knows you by name.

Does it feel like the waves of life are crashing in on you and you’re about to drown? Are your finances coming to an end? Have you lost your home? Has your one and only car quit for good? Is your health failing? Have you lost or soon going to lose a loved one?
Is your heart crushed under the weight of it all and you feel like you’re in the outer parts of a tornado being tossed around and around, having no choice but to just let it take you? … take Jesus hand … He knows you by name.

Are you especially lonely this Christmas season?
Hold on tight.
Jesus knows YOU by name.
Does your heart long for complete, pure-unconditional love, but you’ve yet to experience it?
Jesus is reaching out His hand and calling YOUR name.

Many of us have tried filling our hearts with love from others; parents, siblings, friends, spouses, children, grandchildren, or with material things; more clothes, bigger car, bigger house, new furniture etc. Or maybe you try filling it with that glass or two of wine or with extramarital affairs, only to discover the pangs of loneliness still prevail.

For some the pangs are small and they can still function quite well. For others they are a little more predominant and guilt and shame have gripped their hearts.
And for others, the pangs have ‘become’ their heartbeat. With every beat of the heart, they feel emptier and emptier, stuck, numb, and hopeless.

I know this sounds like a cliche’, but, Jesus, IS the reason for Christmas and He knows you by name. He knows you because He created you. He died for you. He loves you unconditionally. He is the only one who can fill the empty void in your heart. I’m not saying it’s always easy, because it’s not. It can take time to fully grasp the reality of His love. It’s taken me some time, but I speak from experience when I say I ‘know’ He loves me. During the times my heart grieved so heavily, it was Jesus and His love for me that pulled me through.

I pray you will grab a hold of His hand and allow Him to love you the way He desires to. He’s right there. All you have to do is call on His name. The name of Jesus.πŸ’—

John 3:16 For God so loved the world
that He gave His begotten Son,
that whosoever believes in Him
should not perish
but have everlasting life
If you would like prayer for yourself, a friend or a loved one, please let us know. We would love to pray with you.

Merry Christmas
Love,
Susan Parish

  • What a beautiful post and so timely! It’s so hard to not get lost in the busy-ness of this season and still feel lonely. Thank you for reminding me about God knowing my name.

    • Thank you Nikole. I was just talking to God today about how easy it is to get caught up in life and forget about Him. I wish it wasn’t so, but I am guilty of doing it sometimes. He is always good to remind me though, and for that I am extremely grateful. πŸ’—

    • Thank you Lori. It saddens my heart that the holiday season is a lonely time for some people. I’m thankful the post blessed you. I love the fact that God knows our name too. Have a very blessed Christmas. πŸ’—

    • I loved it when God gave me this phrase to use. He changed it right in the middle of my writing. Sometimes, the light just isn’t there, but Jesus always is because He is the True Light. πŸ’— Have a wonderful Christmas, Susan.

  • Susan: I love this! Daddy loves Diane! This is such an overwhelming truth. Thank you for reminding me that I may ”feel” lonely but in reality I am not. Feelings often lie to us but Jesus is the Truth and He is always near!

    • I love the truth that Jesus is always near! Feelings are motivated by emotions. Psalm 23:3 tells us the Jesus restores our soul; Our mind, will and emotions. This is the scripture I lean on when my emotions are running rapid. πŸ’— Have a wonderful Christmas! Love you, Diane πŸ’—

    • Thank you Tammy! I am still in awe that God would even choose me to blog for Christ. It’s the one thing I love most.πŸ’— Have a very blessed Christmas.
