God lovingly created you with His own two hands in your mother’s womb.
The Psalmist David penned in Psalm 139:13-16 (NLT):
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.”
Almighty God, Who created all of Heaven and earth (Genesis 1-2 NLT) could have just spoken you into existence in a split second! In an instant He could have created you but instead He chose to take His time because He enjoyed the process.
With much love and care, your Heavenly Daddy relished each unhurried minute of intricately knitting you together and breathing His life into you. Each delicate thread was woven together with purpose and excellence. Think of how complex your brain alone is! He loved the very thought of YOU! He ‘saw’ you even before He began to mold you into the beautiful vision that you are! His vision.
And it made Him smile!
As an artist, I love mixing and playing with all kinds of colors. To create a painting, I first have to lay a foundation with Gesso Primer. After brushing or spraying Gesso on my canvas, I have to be patient and let it dry. Then I do a study of my subject by sketching with a graphite pencil onto my canvas. Finally, I can start to blend and layer the colors. The process is fun. It makes me happy.
When I use Acrylics or Oils, I am usually able to fix mistakes with additional layers. But when I use watercolors, which are translucent, all my mistakes show through.
As He was creating you, God specifically chose the color of your hair, eyes and skin. Can you imagine Him singing sweet songs over you as He painted each of your beautiful hair strands a fiery red, rich black, soft brunette or sunny blonde? He wasn’t concerned with needing to cover up one color with another because He never makes mistakes. Your Heavenly Daddy took great pleasure in blending together the color of your hair, eyes and skin tone and He loves you just the way you are!
Sweet Sister in Christ … sometimes we think that we are a mistake. We feel like we didn’t get a good start to life so what could we possibly have to offer anyone (including God) in the future? Or, because of our imperfect parents, we feel that we didn’t have a solid foundation.
But our original foundation was not laid by our parents or any other human being.
I’m not saying that some of us didn’t have a sad, hard, painful or even very traumatic upbringing. But the Lord encouraged and reminded me that our upbringing can never cancel out who we were originally created to be.
Our true foundation was poured by our loving Father in Heaven. You are His masterpiece! In His image He created you. (Genesis 1:27)
In His image, you were created with love, not shame.
Nothing that any human being has said or done to you (no matter how vile or evil) can alter the purity or integrity of the foundation that Jesus forged in you.
And no devil in hell can stop the good plans God has ordained for you. The only person who can stop you is YOU!
Think about it like this … When builders go to construct a house, they first have to pour a solid foundation of concrete. A house cannot stand on sand! Reminds you of Jesus’ Words in Matthew 7:24-27, doesn’t it? Then they go through the process of hammering and nailing up all the walls and the roof over the foundation.
Well my friend, Jesus poured your solid foundation. After you came into this world, your parents went to work designing your “house” the best way they knew how. I know some people are just plain mean and evil but for other parents, they truly did the best they could with what they had at the time. If they didn’t know Jesus, they may have built up some walls in you that were forged out of their fears and insecurities.
If they were Godly parents who listened to Jesus, they may have built on His foundation the way He would have them. But if they did not know Jesus, then they set to work building it the only way they knew how. They themselves may not have had a good upbringing and they didn’t have a blueprint to go by. Even if they were good parents, if they didn’t have Jesus, they didn’t know to point you to Him.
If your ‘house’ so to speak is one that was forged in pain, deceit, abuse of any kind, shame, distrust etc … please know there is hope. Maybe you have doors shut that should be open. Or doors open that should be shut. Some of you have a solid wall built around the house six feet thick. No one and nothing can penetrate this wall to get to know the real you. Or maybe you have no walls or fence of any kind. You have been so violated that you never learned to put up healthy boundaries and your sweet sacred self became public property.
Please know that Jesus can come in and bulldoze all that was built in darkness and help you to start over! Even if you feel you’ve been to Hell and back. Or your past is so full of fiery trials that it feels like there’s nothing left but smoldering embers. Remember this … your solid foundation is still in tact! If a house burns completely down to the ground, the fire cannot consume the concrete foundation. Your foundation still stands.
Jesus wants to come in and rebuild you from His foundation up.
Please let Christ restore you so you can begin to see yourself the way that He does. If you have never seen yourself in this way, it is not too late to start now.
From this moment forward, I pray that you are willing to let God show you who you are in Christ!
You can trust Jesus. When you spend time in His Word AND in His presence, He promises that you will never be covered with shame.
I am witness to His promise being true. I had a root of shame that was so deep, I couldn’t even look at myself in the mirror.
Through the years, each time I chose to believe Him and let go of a lie, Jesus uprooted the shame one layer at a time!
He is redeeming and restoring me.
If your soul wounds are deep and you are hurting from emotional pain, please know there is no shame in seeking out good Christian Counseling. Ask the Lord to guide you to the right person who will point you to Him and help you unpack your past in a healthy, constructive way.
I feel it is super important to be mindful of the friends you keep also.
My Sister in Christ, please don’t deny yourself any longer. It is the Father’s heart for you to be healed.
Don’t let the enemy continue to rob you of precious time and tell you that your life is over or that you are too damaged. Your foundation is still intact! Let Jesus restore you!
“Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” Psalm 34:5
My friend Diane Wilser says that this is a woman’s ultimate beauty regimen.
Isn’t that the truth?
You are beautiful my friend. Your smile, your dreams, your heart, your tears.
Your talents, your gifts, your laughter, your soul.
There is no one in the past, present or future that will be like you.
YOU are the apple of God’s eye!
Our lives are short. James 4:14 tells us that we are but a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
What will you decide to do with the time you have left?
We are praying for you! ❤

If you are reading this and don’t already have a relationship with Jesus Christ, please know He loves you so much! Nothing you have ever done or haven’t done could ever make Him stop loving you. In fact, He loves you so much that He died on the Cross because He didn’t want to spend eternity without you. But He needs a response from you. Can we lead you in a prayer to receive Him now?
Let’s Pray …
“Lord Jesus, I believe You died for me on the Cross. I am so sorry and I repent of my sins. I ask You to please forgive me. I want to turn away from doing things my own way. I ask You to come into my heart. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I make You my Lord and Savior. From this point forward, I want to live my life for You. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.”
True Repentance is sweet my friend! Your journey with Jesus to real peace and freedom in Him has begun!
If you just prayed to receive Jesus, we are SO HAPPY for you! Please let us know so we can celebrate with you! In fact, all of Heaven is rejoicing right now! Check this Scripture verse out: “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” Luke 15:7
