From Guilt to Grace: Hope and Healing for Christian Moms of Addicted Children
Hello Friend! 🌻Have you been trying to cope with the painful reality of your adult child’s addiction or self-destructive behaviors? Do you have a friend or loved one going through this who could benefit from good, godly guidance to help them navigate through the pain?
Are you overwhelmed with hopelessness, fear, and despair or worn down from trying to ‘save’ them from themselves? Drowning in regret as if you could have prevented all of this from happening to your child?
I wanted to hop on here today to share a beautiful book with you … “From Guilt to Grace: Hope and Healing for Christian Moms of Addicted Children” written by my sweet friend Dawn Ward.
Even if you have not experienced this for yourself, this book is a treasure. I have not personally walked through this myself but I have listened to, cried with and prayed over one of my beautiful friends for many years as she worked to sort through the pain and confusion of her adult son’s behavior. I was thankful to discover Dawn’s ministry (and this book) to share with her.
This book is not meant to help you fix your adult child. This book is Dawn coming alongside you to point you to Jesus and help you find your own healing. She shares Biblical truth and personal insights to help you discover and unpack the lies keeping you trapped in guilt and shame so you can experience the healing, transforming power of God’s grace to set you and your family free.
Dawn wrote this book from her own painful life experience, which makes her words deeply vulnerable, personal, relatable and trustworthy. She shares her story from discovery to battling feelings of disbelief to overwhelm, despair, fear, hopelessness and regret as she desperately tried to save her family from the agonzing grip of addiction.
After many years of struggling to break free from feelings of shame, guilt and self-blame, Dawn has surrendered her will to God and embraced His strength and redeeming grace like never before.
“From Guilt to Grace” offers powerful insights on forgiveness, healing and embracing God’s love in recovering from difficult family circumstances. This book is a beautiful reminder of God’s empowering grace that is available to us all, no matter our struggles.
In every book review, I like to include the table of contents to give you a peek behind the cover. And how about that cover, right? It’s absolutely beautiful! I love the pink and gold …

I was happy to share this. Addiction affects so many lives. I have seen it devastate families and those trying to care for the person addicted. For those of us not as affected, I’m sure the book offers a lot of insight. There were so many things I did not know about drug abusers.
It does offer alot of insight and helps us to understand and help those suffering through this. I am thankful I was able to share this book with one of my best friends who had been struggling for so long … 🙏🩷
I opened my email this morning, after once again surrendering our 53 yr. old son addicted to alcohol, to see “From Guilt to Grace”. I know, deep in my heart, that God loves and cares for my son even more than I do and is working in his life even if I am not seeing His work. Shame . . . hum . . . need to look into this more. Your book, your mother’s heart knows this pain and the affect it has on the entire family. Yes, it has caused me to cling to God and grown my faith and trust in Him for which I am grateful. “But . . . “ his life, his salvation, and healing. Thank you for the courage to share your struggle and write a book.
Sue. Thank you for sharing your heart concerning your son. In my case, I’ve had all the emotions on this journey, and the Lord healed me and set me free by his grace. I pray that sharing from my experience will help other moms as well. I am praying for your son and for your family. God bless you.
Sue, I’m SO glad you stopped by, I can’t imagine the heartbreak you have endured. God does love your precious son even more than you do and is working in the meanwhile even though He seems silent at times and I know this is bringing you comfort. Sending hugs and prayers your way, Sue … 🙏💔
