But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children.” Psalm 103:17 ESV
As a parent, teacher, family member, group leader, mentor, counselor, friend or coach, it is crucial we keep in prayer the teen(s) God has placed in our little sphere of influence.
Our teens long to discover who they are and where they fit in but this current cancel culture has been working overtime to push God out of the picture. Our teens are being inundated with demonic lies, fake news, ungodly idiologies and conflicting messages about our Creator and their own identity and purpose in this life.
God alone lovingly created the teen(s) you are stewarding in this season and He made NO mistakes when He designed them to be male or female in HIS beautiful image. (Gen 1:27) He intimately KNOWS every one of our precious teens.
The LORD hears all their thoughts and knows their weaknesses, their strengths, their fears, their doubts and their God given purpose and dreams. I hope these prayers will help you to fully place your hope and trust in our sovereign God as you partner with Him to steward these precious young lives for Him.

PRAYER FOR THEIR IDENTITY/SELF IMAGE – But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. Isaiah 43:1 ESV
Lord, I pray for _______________ to be able to understand and embrace his/her identity in Christ, which is deeply rooted in your unconditional love for him/her and not contigent on their behavior. Please help ________________ to seek Your heart and Your voice, LORD, above all the other voices that try to compete for their attention in this world. Help ________________ learn to live for an audience of ONE and cultivate a healthy self-image (male or female) based on Your life giving truth and not on the ungodly beliefs/ideologies of this cancel culture today. Please help _____________ to walk secure in the uncompromising truth that he/she is (already) fully loved, accepted, and cherished by You so they don’t feel the need to strive for the inhumane illusion of perfection or the validation of society or their peers. Help ____________ to remember Your acceptance of him/her is based on Your love and grace alone and NOT on their performance or achievements. I pray ______________ knows their worth as the adopted Son/Daughter of the Most High God (2 Cor 6:18), who is fearfully and wonderfully created in Your image (Psalm 139:14) so they know they have nothing to prove and don’t fall into the enemy’s trap of comparing themselves with their peers. LORD, I pray _____________’s relationship with You empowers him/her to navigate their world with “God confidence” and hope. I pray all of this in Jesus’ Name … amen!
PRAYER FOR THEIR FAITH – “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” Matthew 17:20 NIV
Heavenly Father, I ask for You to strengthen _____________’s faith to keep You front and center in all their choices and decisions. Help them to fall in love with Your eternal Word and to cultivate a Biblical world view. Shield him/her from peer pressure, harmful relationships and the schemes of the enemy. This world is plunged in darkness, believing the demonic lie that ‘truth’ is relative to whatever we personally choose it to be for ourselves. Help my teen to remember that Your Word is absolute truth that will always accomplish what You send it out to do (Isa 55:11) and will remain even after this world no longer exists (Matt 24:35). Father God, please will You strike Your heavenly match and set this teenager’s heart on fire for You! Stir in his/her heart a deep desire to know and worship You alone. Help them to see You as their Lord, loving Heavenly Father, friend and Savior. Send Your angels to watch over him/her and guide their every step. When ______________ feels like his/her faith is failing, help him/her to remember it is not the size of our faith that matters but WHO we put our faith in. I pray this in Jesus’ mighty Name … amen!
PRAYER FOR THEIR MENTAL/EMOTIONAL WELL BEING – And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:7 NIV
Heavenly Father, I lift up to You the mental and emotional health of this precious teenager. You intimately know the struggles, anxieties and unsettledness he/she may be feeling in this stage of life. I pray that ___________ remembers they can bring everything to You in prayer and thanksgiving and You will protect and guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:6-7). LORD, I pray my teen will stand strong and not conform to the patterns in this world, but be transformed by the renewing of their mind in Your word (Rom 12:2). I ask that You would fill them with a fresh filling of Your Holy Spirit today to guide and help them to steward their thoughts and emotions in a healthy and godly way. Help them to remember that no matter how bad a situation may appear, God always has the last word and their future victory is already secure in Christ Jesus. I pray that any negative thoughts or feelings would be replaced with Your divine truth and the sweet assurance of Your never ending love for them. In Jesus’ Name, I pray this. Amen.
PRAYER FOR THEIR PROTECTION – Don’t be afraid, for I Am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I Am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10 NLT
Heavenly Father, I know You will guide and protect ______________ today. I know You will answer him/her when they call on You (Jer 29:12-14). I know Your plans for my teen are for good and not for evil (Jer 29:11). I trust You are guarding and protecting them with Your favor as with a shield (Psalm 5:12). LORD, I ask for Your mighty hedge of protection to surround and guard this precious teen (Job 1:10). I pray You will shield them from all harm, both physically and spiritually. I trust You will show them the way of escape when the enemy tempts them, preserving their innocence and purity (1 Cor 10:13). I know You place Your angels around them, guiding and leading them in Your path of righteousness (Ps 91:11). I trust You will keep them safe from every evil scheme and plot of the enemy. I entrust this teen into Your loving and very capable hands today, knowing Your faithfulness will never fail. May ___________ experience Your peace and security as they walk with You today. I pray all of this in Jesus’ Name. Amen …
PRAYER FOR THEIR PHYSICAL WELL BEING – Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Proverbs 3:7-8 ESV
Heaven Father, please help ___________ to remember their body is the temple for Your Holy Spirit that dwells inside them (1 Cor 6:19-20). Please protect my teen’s physical health and help them to establish healthy eating, exercise and relaxation habits that will sustain them into adulthood. I ask for Your divine protection over ___________’s physical body. I pray You will guard this young body against any illnesses or injuries that may threaten their health and well-being. May Your mighty hand be upon this teenager, shielding them from all physical harm. I pray that You would give them wisdom and strength to make wise choices that promote a healthy lifestyle. Help them to prioritize their well-being and make choices that honor You in everything they decide to do. May they walk in Your Truth and Light and be a living testimony of Your goodness and grace. In Your love, mercy and grace, I ask for Your continued supernatural protection over ________________’s body (temple). In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
PRAYER FOR THEIR PURITY – How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. Psalm 119:9 NIV
Heavenly Father, I lift _____________ up to You and ask for You to guard his/her purity by helping him/her to live according to Your Word. I believe You are also preparing (and guarding the purity) of my teenager’s future spouse. Please help him/her to not conform to the patterns of this world, but to be transformed by the daily renewing of his/her mind (Romans 12:2). Holy Spirit, fill my teen’s mind with the things of God, with thoughts and emotions that are good and pure, that reflect the goodness of our God instead of the evils in this current world. LORD, I ask You to help them honor their bodies and remain sexually pure in this immoral culture. Please help my teen to remember to ask for help when tempted, knowing you are ever ready to provide a way of escape for them (1 Cor 10:13). Please help my teen to focus his/her mind on things that are true, honorable, pure and right (Phil 4:8). Father God, I trust You and ask for Your protection over my teenager when they face the many challenges and temptations. Please guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. I pray this in Jesus’ Name.
PRAYER FOR WISDOM – If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. James 1:5 NIV
Heavenly Father, I ask for Your guidance to direct my teenager in their day to day decisions. When _____________ is uncertain of which path to take, I pray for Your guiding hand to show them the way and Your Word to be a lamp for their feet (Ps 119:105). May they learn to rely on You and not lean on their own understanding (Prov 3:5-6). Help them to dig into Your Word for wisdom and answers and to seek Your face in prayer as they are faced with their daily decisions. I know mistakes will be inevitable but I pray for Your protection against any decisions that would have permanent consequences that would get in the way of the future plans You have already mapped out for them. I pray that I myself will be a godly example and influence to this teen in this area of life. Help me to be vulnerable, honest and transparent with this teen about my own choices and mistakes and how You help me to not lean on my own understanding. I pray this, In Jesus’ Name, amen.
PRAYER FOR THEIR RELATIONSHIPS – As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Proverbs 27:17 NLT
Heavenly Father, I ask that You will surround my teen with positive, godly friendships. Please bring covenant friendships that will support, encourage, and spur ______________ on towards love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24). May these godly friendships encourage and always lead ______________ to draw closer and closer to Jesus. Help my teen to see ‘himself/herself PLUS You’ as the majority in every crowd they find themselves in so they don’t feel desperate to befriend the world to keep from feeling alone. Help ___________ to select friendships that align with Your Word and Your will for his/her life. Friendships that build up and never tear them down. Holy Spirit, please grant my teen the discernment and wisdom to recognize and avoid relationships that could lead them astray or hinder their spiritual growth. I also pray that my teen will be a faithful friend to those You bring across their path as well, to be a positive influence in their lives and to lead them closer to You. May all these friendships be centered on You, filled with love, grace, and forgiveness. I lift this prayer to You, trusting in Your perfect plan for my teen’s relationships. In Jesus’ mighty name … amen!
PRAYERS FOR THEIR GIFTS/TALENTS – There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 1 Corinthians 12:4-5 NIV
Heavenly Father, I thank you for giving my teen unique gifts, skillsets and talents that were designed to help others for Your glory. Help me to watch for, recognize, encourage and grow this precious teen in these gifts, so they can use these abilities to build up and edify others in their sphere of influence. LORD, I come before Your throne today to intercede on behalf of _______________ and ask that You would ignite a passion within their heart to use their God given gifts for active participation and service in the body of Christ. May they realize the gifts and talents You have bestowed upon them so they can have a lasting impact in their community. Help them to see the value, dignity and importance of their role in building up Your Kingdom here on earth, no matter how young they are! I ask for You to open doors for them to use their gifts in the body of Christ and find joy, fulfillment, and purpose in doing so. I pray this in Jesus’ Name … amen!
PRAYER FOR THEIR FUTURE – For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
Lord, thank you for blessing ______________ with special talent and abilities. Part of embracing his/her identity in Christ brings to light the divine purpose he/she possesses. I pray this precious teenager will know he/she was created with great purpose and intention and this will help him/her to approach life with enthusiasm and meaning. Thank you for the future (and hope) that they possess through You. May Your plans for this teenager’s life brighten their path before them and draw them closer to You each day. As they seek to discover Your will for their future, help them to trust in You more and more each day. I lift up the dreams, ambitions, and plans of this teenager to You, Lord. You are the source of all wisdom and understanding and I pray You would guide them in making wise decisions for their future. Please open their eyes to see the path that You have prepared for them and give them the courage and confidence to follow You. Bless them with opportunities for success and grant them the strength and perseverance to walk it out with You, Lord. Help them to trust in You and Your perfect plan for their life.
PRAYER FOR COURAGE – “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NLT
Dear God, I know life can be really tough sometimes but I also know You promised to never leave or forsake us. Please help _________________ to remember this and to have courage when things are tough. Please help him/her to grow in their trust of You, to know that You are always for them and never against them. Help him/her to remember they are never alone and You + them = the majority in any crowd they find themselves in. I pray he/she remembers they don’t have to feel strong all the time. In fact, in their weakness, You are made strong. Please strengthen my teen’s resolve to stand up for what is right, even when it isn’t popular. Please protect him/her from the schemes of the enemy. I know young people are especially vulnerable to the enemy. Help my teen to grow in their discernment and knowledge of spiritual warfare and how to pray on the full Armor of God. He/she does not need to ever be fearful of the enemy, just prayerful and mindful. Help my teen to remember that Your love will never fail and You will always with him/her, no matter what. Amen.
