SEVEN BIBLE VERSES TO REFLECT ON THIS CHRISTMAS

The Bible truly is a Love Letter written to us by our Heavenly Father.

The Holy Scriptures are God breathed (2 Timothy 3:16), full of His Love, truth, and steadfast faithfulness. Saturating our heart, mind and soul with His Word strengthens us and helps us to stay focused on what is truly important, especially at this time of year. Here are seven Bible Verses to meditate on that will help us to keep a Christ Centered Christmas this year!

Seven Bible Verses to Reflect on this Christmas :::

Verse 1:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 (Read Full Chapter)

REFLECTION: This verse displays the very heart of our Creator. God’s heartfelt gift of His Son, from His humble birth in the manger all the way to the cross and beyond, is incomparable to any other gift we could ever receive. The extravagant Love our Heavenly Father displays towards ALL Humankind … no other love can EVER come close! Salvation is a gift and can never be purchased or worked for. It can only be received with a repentant and grateful heart. This Christmas, reflect on God’s goodness and just how lavish His love is for us. He would rather give of His only Son Jesus than spend eternity without us.

Verse 2:

“For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the
government will rest on His shoulders; And His Name will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 (Read Full Chapter)

REFLECTION: God reigns and He will prevail over all! Covid 19 could not cancel Christmas. It also really didn’t matter what the election results were. Jesus Christ is eternal and He is in charge. He is our Wonderful Counselor … no one can comfort, teach or guide us like His Holy Spirit! Our Prince of Peace, Jesus not only gives us peace beyond understanding, but He Himself IS peace! Our Mighty Lord is a Rock and keeps us tethered to Him from behind the veil even when everything around us seems to be falling apart.

Verse 3:

She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the
name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through
the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son,
and they will call Him Emmanuel” (which means “God with us”).
Matthew 1:21-23 (Read Full Chapter)

REFLECTION: Let’s reflect on God’s heart towards us. His heart is filled with mercy and grace, and ready to take us back (just like the prodigal son’s father). He is Emmanuel, which means God with us. His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are far beyond anything we could ever imagine. (Isaiah 55:8) Our Heavenly Daddy is purposeful and intentional. Love came down from Heaven with holy purpose the night the star came to a stop above the humble little stable. May this stir our hearts with love and reverence for our beautiful Savior.

Verse 4:

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming
down from the Father of the heavenly lights, Who
does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17 (Read Full Chapter)

REFLECTION: God did not cause the worldwide pandemic. He did NOT condone the evil of slavery in our country which has led to the racial tension we feel today. And He did not inspire people to riot and pay back evil for evil. He will NEVER orchestrate the immoral depravity we see in the world around us. Darkness can NEVER overtake Him and cause Him to not keep His promises or pull back His love. Everything good comes from our Eternal Father Who is wrapped in light. In this world filled with broken promises, we can rest that our Daddy in Heaven will NEVER leave us or forsake us. (Deuteronomy 31:6) Let us pause to praise Him for Who He is and all that He has done for us!

Verse 5:

The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We
have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son,
Who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14 (Read Full Chapter)

REFLECTION: Our beautiful Lord, full of grace and truth, chose to step from eternity into time and take on the crippling weight of the world’s sin so we can live forever with Him in Heaven. This world is not our home. We are citizens of Heaven. (Philippians 3:20) No matter what we have endured this year, may we be encouraged this Christmas when we remember that God has sealed us with His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13) and He is guiding us home. Glory be to God in the Highest! (Luke 2:14)

Verse 6:

“Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you”
Ephesians 4:32 (Read Full Chapter)

REFLECTION: The spirit of Christmas is LOVE. And there’s just not enough room in our hearts for both unforgiveness and true worship. Only the pure in heart can truly ‘see’ God. (Matthew 5:8) Let’s ask Jesus to give us the tender and trusting heart of a child and release other people to Him. Our relationship with our Heavenly Father can become strained on our end if we allow people to fill our hearts with unforgiveness. We cannot control what others do but we can take charge of what we allow to consume us. This Christmas, let’s choose to only let the Holy Spirit consume us.

Verse 7:

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
2 Corinthians 9:15 (Read Full Chapter)

REFLECTION: There are just no words! The gifts under the Christmas tree may be neatly wrapped with pretty paper and bows. But we can never fit God into a neat little box. We can never contain Him or fully fathom the extent of His Holiness and Majesty, nor His grace, mercy and love. This all present, all powerful, all knowing God loves us with a consuming passion that we can never completely fathom! But wow what an exciting journey to ask Him to reveal more of Himself to us this Christmas! His gift of His beautiful Son is indescribable! Let us make room in our hearts for Jesus and worship Him with all our hearts!

Come to Jesus as a child …

Children are filled with sweet awe and wonder and they play, hope and dream with abandon. They love with their whole hearts and tend to forgive quickly. Sensitive, curious, creative, teachable, yielding, trusting. They believe, absorb and repeat every word their Daddy tells them.

Let’s dare to approach God with a childlike heart this Christmas!
