“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” 1 Tim 4:12
Dear Mom, my heart is to come alongside you as you minister to your teenagers during these unprecedented times. Our teens are facing things we never had to, wouldn’t you agree?
While writing this post, I prayed for God to speak to your teen’s heart through these Bible Verses and graphics, which are yours to print at home or school and use as the Lord leads you to.

Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to edify them
“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” 1 Tim 4:12
Dear Teen: Do you feel like you are too young to be used by God, or that you don’t have enough experience or anything to offer? When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of us, to guide and lead us. And just like with adults, God can use anyone who is surrendered and yielded to His voice and leadership no matter their age or what other people think or say.
Timothy experienced this as a young man in the Bible. Timothy began working in the local church and some older folks didn’t respect him because of his youth. The Apostle Paul mentored and encouraged Timothy as he faced this tough situation. Paul challenged Timothy to be an example to others in the things he said, in how he lived and loved, in his faith and in his purity. You are never too young to serve God and be a godly example to everyone around you.
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to speak life and not death
“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Col 4:6
Dear Teen: The old saying, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” is a lie. Words are containers of power. Prov 18:21 tells us that our tongues can bring death or life and those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Prov 11:9 reminds us that godless words can destroy our neighbors and friends. Our words not only benefit or hurt others, but they will affect and set the course for our own lives as well.
Prov 11:17 promises that when we are kind to others, we will benefit also, but when we are cruel to others, we will bring ruin upon ourselves. Eph 4:29 admonishes us to not use foul or abusive language. But let everything we say be good and helpful, so our words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. There has been SO much mud slinging on social media so let us use our words to build people up in His truth.
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to strengthen them
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deut 31:6
Dear Teen: During your teen years, you may have many concerns that weigh heavy on your heart. Relationship drama, peer pressure, feelings of insecurity, and worries about what other people think. I’ve heard that Ps 118:8 is the verse in the very center of the Bible and it says: “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people.” It’s never too early to begin living for an audience of One as this is where our true confidence is found. Trust in the One who will never leave nor forsake us.
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – a command with a blessing
“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” Ex 20:12
Dear Teen: As you can see, Exodus 20:12 is one command that comes with an awesome promise. Col 3:20 admonishes us to “obey our parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.” Just as we are called to show respect to God, we are called to mirror that same respect towards our parents; even in the moments we feel like they don’t deserve it. When you obey God, you put the responsibility of the outcome of your obedience in God’s hands. It’s the same with your parents, when you obey them, you are putting the responsibility for the results in your parent’s hands.
However, please know God does not mean for you to have to submit to abuse at any time in your life. If there is abuse of any kind (mental, verbal, sexual, emotional, or physical) in your home, seek help right away. Please know that speaking up and seeking help for abusive situations takes courage and you are not being disrespectful. Ask God to heal whatever may be preventing your family members from really listening to and being a reflection of Christ’s love and truth to each other.
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to comfort them
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Ps 34:18
Dear Teen: Psalm 34:18 is a part of an awesome passage. The passage reads: “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.” Psalm 34:17-19 NIV
Jesus tells us we will have trouble in this world, but we can take heart because He has overcome the world. (Jn 16:33)
We can rest assured no matter what comes our way today, God will always be right by our side. God tells us in Heb 13:5 to be content because He will never leave us nor forsake us. He promises in Is 43:2 that “When we go through deep waters, He will be with us. When we go through rivers of difficulty, we will not drown. When we walk through the fire of oppression, we will not be burned up; the flames will not consume us.”
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to build them up
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thes 5:11
Dear Teen: We are witnessing a lot of division in our world. As Christians, we need to always speak the truth in love and build up those around us with our words and actions. We must never let the enemy use us to tear each other down. Rom 14:19 says: “So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.” Eph 4:29 tells us: “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”
I love the promise we find in 1 Pet 3:9 “… do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to help them find refuge in Christ
“The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.” Nahum 1:7
Dear Teen: God loves you so much and longs for you to take refuge in Him. If you have never read the Book of Psalms, I encourage you to hang out there. David’s relationship with God is really inspiring and his words will resonate with our hearts. Knowing that the same God who rescued David will also rescue us gives us so much hope and comfort. I absolutely love Psalm 91. It is a very comforting chapter for you to memorize and store in your heart. “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:1-2 NIV
Another awesome Bible Verse is Isaiah 41:10. This is a powerful verse to store in our hearts. “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to help them speak life over their futures
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jer 29:11
Dear Teen: Jeremiah 29:11 speaks to a question almost every teen has – “What does God want me to do with my life?” It can sometimes feel a little frustrating not knowing what God has in store for your life so these words are super encouraging. God offers hope and blessings for your future. Jeremiah 29:11 promises: 1) you will have a future and 2) you will be blessed in the Lord.
So wait patiently on God’s good plan to unfold and trust in His timing. He will always bring His plans to fruition in His timing. In the meantime, please know He will be preparing YOU (right now) for the future He has planned for you. So seek His heart for what He wants you to do now and obediently respond to His promptings and leadings even if they don’t seem to make sense right now. Trust that He has a plan for your future no matter what your current situation looks like.
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to help them to never give up
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Gal 6:9
Dear Teen: When we first surrender our lives to Christ, we excitedly begin to love and serve the people that God brings around us. Whether at Church, at school, at home, or in other social settings. But we must be mindful to let Jesus pour into us first or we will risk burnout. We must remember it is the Lord Himself who ministers to others through us via His Holy Spirit in us. It is always about Him, not us. It is resting and trusting in His strength, not our own.
Don’t grow weary in acts of love towards others. Nothing you do escapes the Lord’s notice so don’t lose heart in spending yourself through His love.. When we are obedient to sow or water His seeds in other people’s hearts, we can leave all the results to Him. 1 Cor 3:7 tells us: “It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.”
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to take the weight off
“Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.” Ps 55:22
Dear Teen: We are living in unprecedented times and you are dealing with stuff we never had to worry about at your age. Worry, anxiety, and depression can be the result of trying to navigate this world without Jesus. Uncertainty is stressful. But no matter what the world looks like today, we can be certain our God is still in control and our life is in His hands.
The same faithful God Who showed up yesterday will be with us today and tomorrow. We can be confident that we can always turn to Him and He wants us to cast our cares on Him. Peter tells us we can cast all our anxiety on God, not just a part of it, but all. God can handle it. God is a good good father. He will never abandon you. Your problem is NOT too big for Him to carry. He cares, He protects, He provides, He sustains and He bears our burdens daily if we let Him! Ps 68:19 says, “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.”
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to sustain them
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil 4:13
Dear Teen: This Bible Verse does not tell us that God will strengthen us to do whatever we want to do. But, in all things that God is calling us to do and the circumstances we find ourselves in, He will strengthen us and help us to navigate and get through them. The Apostle Paul says in Eph 3:16: “I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being.”
And I love Col 1:11, “We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy.” Whatever situation you may find yourselves in today, know that God wants to help carry you through it.
I created the following two (Phil 4:13) graphics especially to honor a very special young lady in Alaska named Ashley Olsen, who loves horses and dolphins! Despite a very challenging year, Ashley pressed through and made the honor roll for outstanding academic performance in the 7th grade. Great job Ashley! Her favorite Bible Verse is Philippians 4:13. I am praying God’s blessings and protection over Rebecca and all the young generation, today! God has great plans for each of you! ❤
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – To remember how loved they are
“The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zeph 3:17
Dear Teen: You are fiercely loved by your Heavenly Father! The God who created the entire universe, the MOST powerful Being ever, loves you and sings over YOU personally. Even if you’ve been running from Him or did something you know is wrong, God still loves you and will always love you. He cares about you very much and wants to be a part of your life.
He loves you SO much! You can never do anything that will stop Him from feeling the way He does about you. This is unconditional love. God loves us so much more than our parents, friends or family members are capable of. Begin to focus on His love. Search for Scriptures that speak of His love for you. Write those Scriptures down and journal your feelings back to Him. He is waiting to cultivate a relationship with you!
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – for protection
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Eph 6:11
Dear Teen: Did you know that other people are NOT your enemy? Yes, sometimes other people don’t realize they are letting the enemy speak through them to try to tear us down. But please know that in the end, people are not our real enemy. Don’t spend a lot of time figuring out how to retaliate or ‘get someone back.’ Because you will only play into the devil’s hands when you do that.
There is a huge battle happening all around us in the spirit world. The devil and his fallen angels are waging war against God. But we don’t have to be afraid. God and His Angel Armies fight ALL our battles for us. God wants us to put on the full Armor of God so we can stand our ground (on the Rock) and not lose ground (or our faith) through life’s battles. A good practice to begin is to prayerfully ‘put on’ the Armor of God each day.
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to shine a light
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Ps 119:105
Dear Teen: There is nothing you could ever do for your personal spiritual journey more powerful than digging into God’s Word. It’s pages are filled with wisdom, guidance and encouragement. We can listen to all the sermons, read all the devotionals, and attend many Christian conferences and concerts with our friends. But nothing can grow us more than digging into God’s Word for ourselves and applying what we read to our lives. The Bible offers help for the present and hope for the future.

Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to help with focus
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about
things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Phil 4:8
Dear Teen: Did you know your eyes and ears are gateways to your soul? And your mind works a lot like a movie reel? Your brain takes in words and images, good or bad, and stores them for your future use. Unfortunately, some movie reels we play over and over can negatively impact our lives and the way we see God, other people and ourselves. The enemy will spend a lot of time trying to convince us to believe his lies and accusations, but we have to resist him and replace his lies with God’s truth.
Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on things that are true, pure, etc. Rom 12:2 tells us to be “…transformed by the renewing of our mind.” To renew means to reestablish, restore or begin again. It’s about giving fresh life to something. Your mind conforms to whatever you think about. If you are dwelling on a lot of junk everyday, your mind won’t have room for godly things.
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – God works all things for our good
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Rom 8:28
Dear Teen: Right now, you may be struggling with understanding why God has allowed something to happen in your life. Maybe you’ve had a death in the family or your parents are getting a divorce. Perhaps you feel you are not as athletic, smart, or good looking as you would like to be. Or your friends have turned on you and high school is not turning out the way you imagined it could be. Maybe your health is suddenly declining at such a young age. You feel a lot of tension, fear and conflict.
Perhaps you feel helpless or hopeless to change your situation. And now you are feeling unsettled and unsure of your future? We don’t know why God allows certain things to happen. But we do know the truth of this verse – that God will work ALL things for the good in your life. It’s hard to see that through the pain and tragedies that happen. But we can trust that nothing can happen to us that God can’t bring some good out of. Some of the greatest good is the strength we can glean, the lessons we can learn and the comfort we can bring to others who experience the same thing we do.
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to put their trust in God
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Pro 3:5-6 ESV
Dear Teen: You don’t have to have everything in life figured out already. God is always just a prayer away. He wants to help lead and guide your decisions. When you pause to pray, you are inviting Him into your circumstances. God will not only help you navigate your current situation, but He will guide you with wisdom to make decisions now that will affect your future. Is putting your trust in God easy? Not always, as many adults will confess. But each time we choose to do things God’s way, we move closer to His will and good purpose for our lives.
Encouraging Bible Verses for Teens – to release their cares
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” 1 Pet 5:7
Dear Teen: God cares SO much for you and He wants you to bring all your worries and cares to Him. Nothing is too small or too much. I can’t think of a better way to encourage you here than to let you read this passage from Matthew 6:25-27: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
I hope you were encouraged today. Be blessed knowing you are the apple of God’s eye. He loves you and wants to do life with you more than you could ever know!
