“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19 ESV).
Behold, I AM doing a new thing – Isaiah 43:19
Happy second day of Spring! 🌷🌼🐝
If we need a sign that God isn’t finished with our stories, this is it, my friend! Spring is preaching a sermon all around us, but are we listening as God whispers to us of love and rebirth?
All winter the ground looked lifeless and the trees stood bare. Cold. Silent. The world looked empty and our backyards appeared dormant and still.
But, look outside! The trees are blooming again. The ground that looked bare is bursting with new life. Flowers are rising up from soil that seemed cold and lifeless after our recent ice storm.
What looked dead was never truly gone. It was just quietly waiting for the right moment. Beneath the frozen soil, something unseen was happening. Roots were holding on. Seeds were still waiting. Life was quietly preparing to rise up again.
And then suddenly, almost overnight, new life begins to push through the soil. The air changes. Tiny green shoots push through the ground. Buds form on branches that looked completely dead just weeks before. Spring colors begin to bloom.
Spring didn’t ask permission to arrive.
It simply came, and right on time.
Because God designed it to do so.
Spring is definitely preaching a beautiful sermon, but are we truly listening?
Spring reminds us of something our hearts desperately need to remember: God specializes in bringing new life out of seasons that looked barren.
I’m so thankful He knows how to reverse what looked like an ending!
Maybe the last season of your life felt like a long winter?
A prayer that went unanswered.
A door that closed unexpectedly.
A disappointment you didn’t see coming.
A season that felt longer and heavier than you expected.
Maybe you’ve walked through grief or a long stretch where nothing seemed to be changing. Your faith is wavering and hope seems to be buried under some heavy disappointments.
But just like the earth in winter, the quiet seasons are often when God is doing His deepest work in us. What looks like delay is often God preparing new growth beneath our surface.
Yes, long before the first flower ever appeared, life has already been stirring beneath the surface. Roots grow deeper in winter and growth often begins in hidden places. We just couldn’t see it.
Preparation happens long before the first bloom appears.
And when God says the time is right, it begins to break through.
Scripture paints this picture so beautifully: “See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.” (Song of Solomon 2:11–12 NIV)
The season of singing has come! I LOVE that, how about you?
What a powerful promise that winter never gets the final word!
Spring always comes. Winter is just a season, not a destination!
The same God who awakens the earth every spring is also working in the hidden places of our lives. He who designed the beautiful rhythm of the seasons also understands the seasons of our heart.
He knows when our heart is tired. He sees the prayers we whispered when no one else was around. He knows the moments when we felt discouraged but kept trusting Him anyway. He has not forgotten a single tear that He collected in His bottle nor has He forgotten the dreams He placed deep down inside us.
And just like spring arrives after the longest winters, God knows exactly when to breathe new life into our stories.
The Lord doesn’t mind reminding us again:
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19 ESV)
I love how the NLT Version says: “See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?”
Notice what God says in this verse …
Now it springs forth! The NIV Version says: Now it springs up!
Just like the flowers pushing through the soil.
Just like the buds appearing on branches that once looked empty.
Just like the life returning to the earth after months of stillness.
Friend, if your life has felt like winter, let spring remind you of this truth: God is still working, your story is still unfolding, and what He planted in your life will spring up suddenly in His perfect time.
Even when you cannot see growth just yet, He is still working beneath the surface. The same God who tells the flowers when to bloom and the trees when to bud is also working out His perfect timing in every aspect of your life.
And when His timing arrives, what felt dormant will begin to rise.
Hope will return.
Strength will grow.
New beginnings will unfold.
So don’t lose heart in the waiting. Because the same God who tells the flowers when to bloom is also preparing a brand new season for you.
My friend, if your heart has been walking through winter, take courage today.
Spring is all around you and this is a sweet reminder from God:
What looks buried is not gone.
What feels delayed is not forgotten.
What seems quiet is not abandoned.
New life is coming and the same God who brings color back to the fields and blossoms to the trees is more than able to bring renewal to your heart.
So if today feels slow, if the breakthrough hasn’t come yet, if the answers are still unfolding … HOLD ON! Because, just like spring, God’s new seasons often approach quietly, but when they arrive, suddenly everything starts to bloom.
New mercy.
New strength.
New beginnings.
In closing, let this be your reminder today: what God planted in your life will bloom in His perfect timing. Just wait and see … 🌼
Live Loved in Him today,
