Friend, it is time for us to take our JOY back!🌻

We have all been faced with anger, sadness, confusion and disappointments in life. These are just a few of the joy stealers that can creep into our lives and take the joy within us hostage, leaving us numb and feeling defeated.

To be able to release any power these joy stealers may have on us, we need to surrender them to God. But before we can release them, we have to be able to identify them, name each joy stealer and talk to the LORD about these thieves operating within us.

In the very first week, the Author guides us in naming those joy stealers so we can begin revoking their power over us.

“Surrender the Joy Stealers: Rediscover the Jesus Joy in You” by Doris Swift is a six week Bible Study based on John 15 – The Vine and the Vinedresser. This thought provoking book makes for a wonderful individual study as we seek the Holy Spirit’s leadings in seeking, discovering and eliminating the personal joy stealers in our life.

But it is also ideal to be used within a group setting with six weeks of meetings and personal study at home. I love doing studies in group settings because everyone can share how God is uniquely speaking to them in the season they are in. Your group members will find very thought provoking questions and be encouraged to seek the Spirit’s leading in understanding God’s Word. A Leader’s Guide is included!

The Author leads us to find freedom through surrendering our personal joy stealers to God, rediscovering the joy Jesus gave us, and walking forward in our calling and purpose.

I also love that at the beginning of each week, you will find “Scripture Fed Prayer for the Journey,” a daily practice to soak in the Word of God. We use the words of the Scripture passage (or verse) to form our own personalized prayer to the Lord. Then, at the end of each week, you will find a section called “Back to the Vine.”

This study includes verses and passages from several different books of the Bible, but the primary focus of this study is John 15 (especially John 15:11).

This beautiful study will help you to:

• Reveal the names of your joy stealers & revoke their power
• Respond by surrendering your control to God
• Receive God’s call for you to have joy
• Renew your strength to awaken your joy
• Rest in His truth
• Reach out and live missionally
• Reawaken the joy within you & share that joy with others!

One of my favorite parts of this Bible Study Journey was how the author would list pertinent Scripture verses and have the reader search for them instead of spoon feeding them to us. This activity was edifying, comforting and helped take the study to a deeper level for me. I personally went to Bible Hub each time so I could see many translations of each verse.
