The God of Peace will Soon Crush Satan Under Your Feet - Romans 16:20

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Romans 16:20 ESV

Unity in Christ is powerful …

In the final chapter of the Book of Romans, Paul instructed the Believers in Rome to watch out for (and keep away from) those who caused division and put obstacles in their way that were contrary to the teachings they learned. For these devisive people did not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites … (Romans 16:17-18).

The God of Peace will Soon Crush Satan Under Your Feet - Romans 16:20This dis-unity didn’t just exist in Paul’s day but the enemy is alive and well and stirring up discord among us today.

Satan knows his end is near and if he can keep us Christians distracted and offended, then we are not a threat to him and his kingdom of darkness.

But our God is the God of peace and He is concerned about protecting the hearts of His children and preserving the unity among us.

When we come together in Christ, we become a force for the enemy to reckon with. But how do we stay at peace with other Christians in our lives?

By recognizing and remembering

  • RECOGNIZE when the enemy has slithered into our camp …

When we hear gossip, lies, slander or condemning accusations aimed at a brother or sister in Christ, do we recognize that the Accuser of the Brethren (Rev 12:10) is operating in our midst? Jealousy, quarrels, envy and strife are all stirred up by Satan and do not have a place in our hearts or within our covenant relationships.

We must to be able to discern when the enemy has slithered into our camp so we can resist him and cancel any assignments he brings with him to divide and scatter us. Similarly, we must recognize and resist the religious spirit for none of us can claim we are the final authority on God’s Word.

  • REMEMBER who we are in Christ so we don’t betray our identity …

The God of Peace will Soon Crush Satan Under Your Feet - Romans 16:20Remember, we do not wrestle with flesh and blood (Eph 6:12). Our weapons of warfare are not carnal but mighty for tearing down the devil’s strongholds (1 Cor 10:4).

Not everything we think needs to be a fight with other believers because our preferences are not necessarily His Truth at times. Let’s choose our battles carefully.

God is never the author of evil, confusion, lies or even half truths.

Let’s keep ourselves prayed up so we are not caught off guard. Pray for all Believers, for their hearts to remain soft, accountable and teachable towards God and each other.

Why is this SO important?

I found this powerful commentary from the King James Bible Study Notes:

  • Romans 16:20. Shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly: The underlying imagery is found in Genesis 3:15. In freeing themselves from those who were causing division and marring the unity of the church, they would be experiencing what Jesus will ultimately experience when He finally defeats Satan for all eternity.

Isn’t that powerful? When we free ourselves from those who cause division, we share in Jesus’ experience when He ultimately defeats the Devil for all eternity.

Remember in Genesis 3:15, when God told the serpent: “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

The enemy loves to sow discord among Christians to weaken us and destroy our witness and testimony to the world. Why? Because the Accuser of the Brethren is conquered and defeated by the blood of the Lamb AND the word of our testimony (Rev 12:10-11)

When we do our part to resist Satan’s accusations and remain in Christ’s peace and joy, God is able to crush Satan under our feet!

The Apostle Paul admonishes us in Ephesians 4:15-16:

“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love” (ESV).

Jesus Himself gives us this command in John 13:34-35:

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (ESV).

Unity in Christ is essential and powerful among Believers because …

  • In unity, we can stand STRONG and push back the darkness.
  • In unity, we bring much JOY to our Heavenly Father’s heart.
  • In unity, we untie HIS hands to crush Satan under OUR feet.
  • In unity, our love for each other will make HIM known to the world.

Hugs and Prayers,
