Making Home Your Happy Place Book Review

Hi friends!

Making Home Your Happy Place Book ReviewI have an awesome book to giveaway: Making Home Your Happy Place. A Real Life Guide to Decluttering Without the Overwhelm by Katy Joy Wells, host of The Maximized Minimalist podcast.

I found this book interesting. I never gave too much thought to the clutter that most of us deal with on a regular basis nor the mindsets or the pyschology behind it all that keeps us stuck. More often than not, my way of dealing with clutter is just to quickly shove things into our drawers or closets before guests arrive.

I love Katy’s quote from her book: “Most people don’t struggle with clutter because they are disorganized or lack will power. They struggle because traditional advice focuses on the stuff, not the root cause behind it.”

Getting to the Root Cause of Clutter … 🌷

Katy writes: “No bins, storage solutions, or marathon clean outs. Just a real approach to understanding why the clutter is there in the first place, and realistic, doable shifts so change can finally happen.”

  1. As the mom of 9 grown kids, I probably need an entire book about “Sentimental Clutter” : ) Just been an empty nester for a few months, and I’m finding that it’s harder to de-sentimentalize than than I’d ever dreamed. Thanks for your blog…and for the great book review! Hope to read it soon!

  2. Sounds like a good read. I will go with Chapter 2 and 8.

  3. This looks fascinating. I’ll have to put it in my to-read list.

  4. I love this! I cannot handle clutter, so I relate on every level. This looks like a wonderful resource! I love that the book makes it manageable. I know a huge deterrent to tackling clutter can be overwhelm! One room at a time, one drawer at a time…..we can overcome it!

  5. This sounds very interesting. Clutter makes me anxious. I know I tend to put it out of sight, out of mind. I am definitely going to be reading! Thanks for sharing, Donna.

  6. I, myself, struggle with clutter. I really enjoyed this review! I just might have to look into purchasing this book.

  7. I must say at the season in my life losing my daughter . 6 Months ago I would choose chapters 6 and 11.
6 being sentimental with getting rid of all the things she owned.
11 raising children at age of 65 and 77 not easy but fully trusting God…

  8. I think chapter 13 No More Burnout – Tools that Keep You Going interest me the most! It would be nice to get a system set up that I can continue and helps me to be successful in the long run. Thank you for sharing this book!
