7 BIBLE VERSES TO REFLECT ON THIS CHRISTMAS
The Bible is truly a Love Letter written to us by our Heavenly Father. The Holy Scriptures are full of His Love, His truths, and His faithfulness.
Saturating our hearts, minds and souls with His Word strengthens us and helps us to stay focused on what is truly important this time of year.
Here are seven Bible Verses to meditate on that will help us to keep a Christ Centered Christmas this year!
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16
This verse displays the extravagant Love of our Heavenly Father towards all of Humankind. No other love can ever come close! This is the greatest gift ever given to us and it cannot be purchased or worked for. It is a true gift and can only be received with a repentant and grateful heart. This Christmas, may we reflect on His goodness and just how lavish His love is for us that He would give His only Son, Jesus, so we can spend eternity with Him.
“For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Jesus Christ is eternal. He is our Wonderful Counselor … no one can comfort, teach or guide us like His Holy Spirit can! Jesus is our Prince of Peace … He not only gives us peace beyond understanding, but He Himself IS peace! His peace is powerful! “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.” Romans 16:20 Our Mighty Lord is rock solid and keeps us tethered to Him beyond the veil even when everything around us is falling apart. This verse speaks volumes about our beautiful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
“She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
Let us reflect on God’s heart towards us. His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are far beyond anything we could ever imagine. (Isaiah 55:8) Our Heavenly Daddy is purposeful and intentional. He is eternal. Love came down from Heaven with holy purpose the night the star came to a stop above the humble little stable where His Son was born. May this stir our hearts with love and reverence for our beautiful Savior.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17
Everything good comes from our Eternal Father Who is wrapped in light. Darkness can never overtake Him and cause Him to not keep His promises or pull back His love. In this world filled with broken promises, we can rest that our Daddy in Heaven will NEVER leave us or forsake us. (Deuteronomy 31:6) Every good and perfect gift is from Him because He is good and perfect. Let us praise Him for Who He is and all that He has done for us!
“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
Our beautiful Lord, full of grace and truth, is the greatest ‘good and perfect gift’ that came down from our Father above. Jesus chose to step out of eternity into time and take on the crippling weight of the world’s sin so we can live forever with Him in Heaven. This world is not our home. We are citizens of Heaven. (Philippians 3:20) No matter what we have endured this year, may we be encouraged this Christmas when we remember that God has sealed us with His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13) and He is guiding us home. Glory be to God in the Highest! (Luke 2:14)
“Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you” Ephesians 4:32
Our relationship vertically with our Heavenly Father can become strained on our end if we allow one of our horizontal relationships with people to fill our hearts with unforgiveness. We cannot control what others do and in some relationships it is not safe or wise to reconcile. But we can control what we allow to consume us in that deep space within our souls where the Holy Spirit dwells. There’s not enough room in our hearts for both unforgiveness and true worship. Only the pure in heart can see God. (Matthew 5:8) Let’s ask Jesus to give us the tender and trusting heart of a child and release others to Him. Lord, please help us to forgive others and purify our hearts so nothing can block us from being able to see and experience You in all Your fullness this Christmas!
“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:15
There are just no words! The gifts under the tree were put in nice boxes and neatly wrapped with paper and bows. But we can never fit God into a nice and neat box. We can never contain Him or fully fathom the extent of His Holiness and Majesty! This all present, all powerful, all knowing God loves us with a consuming passion that we can never completely fathom! But wow what an exciting journey to ask Him to reveal more of Himself to us this Christmas! His gift to us of His beautiful Son is indescribable! Let us make room in our hearts for Jesus and worship Him with all our hearts!
Come to Jesus as a child this Christmas … teachable, trusting, and believing!
