“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits, Who forgives all your iniquity, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, Who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm 103:1-5 ESV

Bless The Lord, O My Soul, And Forget Not All His Benefits …

Do you ever feel like your life has been thrown into a blender and there’s no off button?

I sure do! When I get caught up in the busyness of life, I too easily forget just how much the Lord has blessed me.

Psalm 103 was written by David and he reminds us to bless the Lord with all our soul and to not forget all His benefits, or how He has rewarded us.

What are all the benefits of the Lord found in this passage?

  • (1) He forgives all our sins
  • (2) He heals all our diseases
  • (3) He redeems our life from the pit or destruction.
  • (4) He crowns us with love and compassion
  • (5) He satisfies our desires with good things so our youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Would you agree that these are all wonderful rewards?

Woman praising GodThe Lord sees our hearts and knows we truly desire to remember Him and put Him first in this world filled with chaos.

So what if we begin the practice of blessing our Lord for just one of His many benefits … just for today? That might be more attainable for us.

Which one would benefit you the most today?

Because I’m working just as physically hard now as I did in my younger days, I’m thanking God that He has satisfied my desires with good things so my youth is renewed like the eagle’s. I sincerely do thank Him every day for giving me the ability to still do the work I do.

Jesus said He is our Bread of Life which means He will sustain us. There have been numerous days when I’m running on just 2-4 hours of sleep and have to call on Jesus to sustain me through the day and He has every. single. time.

He sustains me physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually.

And I am so grateful …

Do you remember when the Israelites wandered around in the desert for 40 years in the same pair of sandals? (They were probably made better back in those days. ha ha.)

But in all seriousness, God LOVES us and will SUSTAIN us, see us through and sometimes even carry us at times.

Let’s bless the Lord and His Holy name with all of our souls today …
