“I AM the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26 NIV (Read Full Chapter)

I AM the Resurrection and the Life | John 11:25-26

"I AM the Resurrection and the Life" | John 11:25-26The word resurrection is a big word that can easily intimidate some of us, but the definition of the word really is quite simple.

The Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance tells us that resurrection comes from the Greek anastasis, which means, “raising up“, or “raised to life again.”

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary tells the same; the state of one being risen from the dead. Some synonyms include rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, and rekindle.

The Cambridge Dictionary goes on to say that resurrection is … the act of bringing something that has disappeared or ended back into use or existence.

These definitions are relatively easy to understand, right?

It’s the power behind the word resurrection that our human minds struggle with …

And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies
because of his Spirit who lives in you. Romans 8:11 (Read Full Chapter)

Jesus, Whom some viewed as being only a man, was claiming to be the resurrection. He wasn’t stating that He ‘can’ resurrect, but that He indeed ‘is’ the resurrection.

I don’t know about you but, quite frankly, this blows my mind.

There is so much hurt, devastation and death in our lives, whether it’s us, a friend or family member. It can be extremely difficult to deal with it all, especially in a positive way.

Several years ago, when my heart was full of pain, I said to God, “I hate death! I’m sorry, but I hate it! It is just too painful!

And at that very moment, He whispered in my heart, “So do I. I understand your pain; My Son died.”

I cried even more as this truth brought peace to my heart. I’m so grateful God never leaves or forsakes us! Hebrews 13:5 tells us …

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (Read Full Chapter)

As Christians, we believe that Jesus is the Son of God as well as a man, and we have this promise to lean on.

“Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.” John 5:25 (Read Full Chapter)

Because of Jesus, we don’t have to fear death and view it as finality to darkness, emptiness and aloneness. We will be resurrected, brought back to life with Him. Yes! Yes! And Yes! My mom, dad and brother are all born again believers and will be in Heaven to welcome me home when my time comes. As I’m sure many of you have family and friends there as well.

Thank you, Jesus , for being willing to do the Father’s will above your own. I understand you were not forced to give your life on the cross, but you chose to die once for all. You died for our sins and you were resurrected to conquer death, so we can live with you forever. Thank you!

Help us keep our eyes on You, Jesus, as we journey through life knowing You are always with us; guiding us, comforting us, and giving us life more abundantly.

Enjoy Easter to the fullest this year everyone! Dress up pretty, go to church, relish family and friends, have fun hunting for eggs and filling Easter baskets, eat lots of yummy food and savor that chocolate! But remember to keep Jesus first in your heart, worship and appreciate Him for all that He has done for us.

Happy Easter! 💗💗
