“But God removed Saul and replaced him with David,
a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son
of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do
everything I want him to do.’”
Acts 13:22 ❤ (Verse on Bible Hub)

I am David:

Through the years, my hubby and I have learned so much from Pastor Jimmy Evans and his “Marriage Today” Ministry. We have been in small groups at our church where his “Marriage on the Rock” study was taught. Additionally, my hubby also led a small group in our home where we studied Jimmy’s “The Indestructable Marriage” Series. He is transparent and shares not only his mistakes in life but also so much wisdom from the heart of God.

This new book about King David is no different. As a matter of fact, it is filled with so much insight and wisdom. One of my greatest takeaways was I cannot move forward if I have not found healing for my past.

From the very first chapter I was convicted! David’s sin with Bathsheba stemmed from him not being where he was supposed to be at the moment. He was walking around on the rooftop when he was supposed to be in battle. We can all ‘find’ trouble when we are not where God meant for us to be.

What made David great in the eyes of the Lord?

He loved God with all his heart AND he took responsibility for all his mistakes.

We all focus too much on trying to be perfect in our own estimation and we can subsequently talk ourselves right out of God’s plan for our lives. We were never called to be perfect. Moreover, as humans we will continue to make mistakes. And although this may be true, what God is looking for in us is a heart filled with humility to make things right with Him. Not perfection. We need to own our mistakes.

I highly recommend this book. I will share below some features from the book. At the end of this post, I will be giving away a hard back copy of this book to one random reader.

I Am David: 10 Lessons in Greatness from Israel’s Most Famous King

King David was a man who was truly after God’s very own heart. Likewise, he is one of the most well known characters in the Bible. A great ruler and warrior, he is often times someone we never think we have common ground with. But guess what? We do.

In the book “I Am David” Jimmy Evans offers 10 awesome Lessons, or ways we can relate to King David. Seriously, get a highlighter ready. There is so much practical help.

Pastor Jimmy says that greatness is not being perfect. It is being willing to use your gifts for God.

We serve a great God who has made everybody in His very own image. So we have ALL been called to a life of greatness. Therefore, no one has ever been called to a life of mediocrity or failure. However, many people just don’t know how to get there. They’ve never been shown the way, or maybe they have some major obstacles to overcome, but they still hear the whisper of greatness in their hearts.

This series from Jimmy Evans is designed to help every person attain God’s call to greatness. And studying the life of King David reveals so much about a truly great person and a man who was after God’s heart.

David was human. And he was a man who attained greatness in spite of failures and setbacks. This example reveals how ALL of us can become great for God. Therefore, this book will serve as a great encouragement for your heart.

HAVE YOU HEARD GOD’S CALLING TO GREATNESS?

HAS THE ENEMY TRIED TO STEER YOU AWAY FROM HIS VOICE?

Greatness is carved into every person’s DNA. You may be unsure about your calling, or you may think that your failures have disqualified you from God’s plan. King David was a world-renowned ruler—hand-picked by God Himself—yet he made many mistakes.

Still, this man understood his divine call to greatness, and you can too.

In this book you will find a study guide. Jimmy Evans shares 10 important lessons from the life of King David.

A very easy read, you will learn how to:

1. RECOGNIZE GOD’S CALLING ON YOUR LIFE
2. DISCOVER THE STEPPING STONES TO GREATNESS
3. AVOID DETOURS AND DISTRACTIONS
4. REDIRECT YOUR PATH AFTER MISTAKES
5. HELP OTHERS DISCOVER THEIR DIVINE CALLINGS
