Finding Hope in the Midst of Grieving

You will keep in perfect peace those whose

Finding Hope in the Midst of Grief …

Are you on the verge of losing hope? Or maybe you’ve already lost hope?

Keeping hope alive when the world seems to be falling apart is impossible to do. Add to that the realization your own life is coming undone at the seams and it just adds chaos to the mix.

Finding Hope in the Midst of Grieving

I’m in the process of grieving the loss of my mom right now. I have grieved losses in the past, but have never experienced physical pain throughout my body like I am right now. I didn’t even know it was a thing.

The hole in my heart is massive and the loneliness I feel is monstrous!

Yes, so monstrous, I want to drink alcohol and I don’t drink. So monstrous, I want to have some guy hold me, comfort me, tell me he loves me even though it’s a lie. So monstrous, my brain is failing me with great forgetfulness. Sometimes it feels like I’m going crazy.

All these thoughts and feelings have caught me by surprise. I had no idea! Knowing that mom’s in heaven, I should be at total peace, right? That’s what I thought, but I am learning there’s more to it than that.

Because we are all created uniquely, we will grieve uniquely …

My grief won’t look like yours and yours won’t look like mine. Some aspects will be the same, but not all of them. One of the most valuable aspects for me is to be patient with myself as God walks me through it, knowing He will bring me through to the other side like He has so many times in the past.

Right now, though, It feels like I’m in the eye of the storm. There’s a vicious tornado going on all around me and I’m affected by it. I see it. I feel it. And I am hit by a little debris.

If I didn’t have Jesus in my life, hope would surely leave me, but God reminds me … “I am pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)

He also reminds me that He is with me wherever I go … (Joshua 1:9) And as He puts a deeper compassion in my heart, I can then give genuine hope to others in an even more compassionate way then before.

And that is where God has me. My word for 2021 is HOPE. He wants my main focus to be on sharing hope with others as the world unravels around them and the only true hope is Jesus.

He is the Rock Eternal, the everlasting strength.

I look forward to this year and how God will use me. I’ve already been blessed several times to speak life into and pray for a young man whose life is difficult right now, as he continues to seek God wholeheartedly.

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, hope is to … desire with expectation of obtainment or fulfilment.  “I hope she remembers.” “I hope I get invited.”

To me, that sounds more like a wish ...

I love what (Hebrews 11:1) tells us: “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see

… with confidence and assurance being the key words.

Although we do not see Jesus, we have the confidence and assurance (hope) that He is always with us, always seeking us, and always loving us.

I pray if you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior that you will take time to call out to Him right now. He is patiently waiting for you to do so. He longs to have a personal relationship with you, to guide you, and to fill you with love, peace, joy and hope. Jesus died for YOU.

Maybe you do know Jesus, but your relationship has grown stale because somewhere along the way you have stopped seeking him and putting him first. You may still go through all the motions, but that’s all it is right now. It is never too late to to put Him first again. Call out to Him. He will hear and answer you. And He never takes his love back. He is faithful and true and he died for YOU.

Hope in Jesus truly is the only hope that lasts forever …

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we
profess, for He who promised is faithful.”
Hebrews 10:23 NIV (Read Full Chapter)
