Hi there Friend! Don’t you just love the above passage? I know I sure do! 

God gave us this beautiful passage of Scripture as the foundation and inspiration behind our fresh grace for today blog.

Our Lord is an ever redeeming, always restoring, and constantly renewing God. His mercies for us are brand new each and every morning and because of His great love, we are never ever consumed or destroyed.

Take a moment to let that truth sink very deeply into your soul today!

As I meditated on this passage, the word consumed really jumped out at me:

The original Hebrew word for consumed is ṯā·mə·nū, and it means: To be complete or finished.

Dictionary.com describes consumed as: to destroy or expend by use.

And Synonyms for the word consume are: exhaust, deplete, squander, dissipate, devour. 

These are all really strong words, aren’t they?

And the truth is: God had the right many times to completely give up on me!

Woman, Coffee, BibleI certainly would have given up on myself many times. But thankfully, He is the God of great love, and His compassions never fail. Such an awesome truth to begin each new day, right?

As I studied the beautiful word compassions, I found that according to the Strong’s Concordance (H7356-raham), its meaning in Hebrew includes the womb (as cherishing the fetus). God not only cherishes (adores, cares for, embraces, encourages, defends) us now, but He cherished us while we were still in our mother’s womb where he lovingly knit us together in His image.

How beautiful is that?

Can you even imagine being created in someone else’s (other than God’s) image? To me, that is a very devastating thought!

God is so faithful and His compassions are new every morning. Every single day is a new day that we can rest in God’s great love! His love is perfect …

I could apply these words to other areas of my life as well:

  • Because of the Lord’s great love, I have been redeemed.
  • Because of the Lord’s great love, my eyes are opened to His Truth.
  • Because of the Lord’s great love, He never leaves me nor forsakes me.
  • Because of the Lord’s great love, I am His and He is mine.
  • Because of the Lord’s great love, I will live with Him forever.

Making this personal by speaking these promises over myself when I talk with God helps me to continue moving forward even when He seems silent.
