My Thoughts on Being Transformed | Romans 12:2

Romans 12:2 says: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect (ESV).

My Thoughts on Being Transformed | Romans 12:2

Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewal of our minds. It sounds so easy, doesn’t it? It’s stated very clearly and there’s nothing to misinterpret at all. Yet it can be so hard to actually put into practice.

Sometimes I feel like a fraud. I write in a couple different venues and pray with people in my church, but at times I can struggle with renewing my mind. I beat myself up because how can this be? How can I have such negative thoughts and still be an example of Christ to others?

My Thoughts on Being Transformed | Romans 12:2

As I seek God with my questioning, He reminds me that he is faithful at all times, even when I’m not, because He cannot disown himself. (2 Timothy 22:13)

This truth brings me comfort as I realize that at that very moment, my mind is being transformed. Isn’t that awesome? Every time I speak God’s Word over myself, my mind is being transformed. The same thing is true for you.

Strong’s Concordance says ‘transformed’ means to change to another form, to transform, to transfigure. Jesus’ appearance was changed with divine brightness on the Mount of Transfiguration.

Renewing, also according to Strong’s Concordance is renovation, complete change for the better.

By completely renovating my way of thinking, by spending more time with God and in the Word, I will be transformed. I may not have the divine brightness that Jesus had, or will I?

When I’m happy or filled with joy, my face does shine more brightly. When I’m feeling down, that shows as well. I can pretend, smile and act like all is well, but that shine just isn’t there.

So, if the shine isn’t there in your life right now, please continue to seek God wholeheartedly knowing that he is still faithful to you. He knows and loves you like no one else can.

Father, here we are again. As we seek for truths and deliverance from the negative thoughts in our minds, we thank you in advance for that freedom. Because we are human, we struggle. However, because You’re perfect, you don’t. So, we call on the perfect steadfastness that you embody.

Thank you, Father God! In Jesus’ name. Amen
